Ladybug - adopted by Sharon Hines

LADYBUG (Formerly Cuddles): Adopted December 15th, 2000 Ladybug was rescued from a home in which she had been severely neglected. Originally adopted from a shelter as a puppy, she was kept in an insulated crate out of doors in Northeast Ohio weather, because she suffered from separation anxiety and her owner worked. Prior to this, at some point in her first five months of life, Ladybug had experienced severe abuse, resulting in a fractured leg, broken rib and missing front tooth, purportedly from being kicked. With severe winter storms approaching, Ladybug needed to be placed by her rescuer at once! Was I interested, sight unseen? You bet! Ladybug is a 5-year-old, (now) 12-pound, female, Shih Tzu. I call her the tenacious one! For all she has experienced, she is tenacious, fun, funny and affectionate, despite periodic fearful flashbacks an asset to this family our Christmas 2000 Miracle!
Misty - adopted by Sharon Hines

MISTY (Formerly Mitzi): Originally adopted from a California shelter (an OTI) in 1988, when she was young (DOB Unknown), by friends of mine, Misty was subsequently adopted by my Mother in 1989, when said friends moved to a no pet property. Misty and Mom enjoyed a wonderful life together until Mom became terminally ill in 1993. At that time it was a given that Misty came to stay with Auntie Sharon. By then we had a history and lots of love and Maltese kisses. When Mom passed away in 1994, there was no question but that Misty was in her forever home with me! (My brother and sister-in-law opted to take her back to Texas with them; and, my Aunt and Uncle opted to take her to Michigan with them. OVER MY DEAD BODY!) It was my consensus of opinion that Misty had had enough in her little life! She was as devoted to me as I was to her she was HOME! Misty is a Senior Girl now, and I have never regretted the decision to keep her with me! She is MY HEART.
Sunny Delight - Adopted by Sharon Hines

SUNNY DELIGHT (Formerly: Sunny): Adopted St. Patricks Day 2001 from Yonkers Animal Shelter in New York. Sunny Delight(ful) is a six-pound, 4 year-old, male, Maltese, ball of energy and affection! I discovered Sunny late one Sunday night on Petfinder.com and my heart froze when I realized that he was in a very high kill shelter! After alerting the appropriate people to his plight and receiving no response, I phoned the shelter 2 days later to discover that, No one had spoken for Sunny. I learned that Sunny was also an OTI, who came in nearly starved. He was a solid coat of Maltese mats; unneutered, and, had been turned in so coated with dried feces that shelter personnel shaved his rear and tail to the skin. He was filthy. Long story short, it was a miracle that I was granted permission to adopt him out-of-state! What an incredible journey what a wonderful gift! I will never know how Sunny knew at once that he was HOME in my arms, but he did. The youngest of my 3 rescues, he is the epicenter of activity in the Hines house now followed closely by Big Sister Ladybug!
Higgins - adopted by Sharon Hines
HIGGINS HINES - Is a small, Maltese male, guessed to be between 5-7 years old. Higgins was scooped out of the middle of a busy Memphis street, where he was attempting to navigate his way through traffic, by a good hearted real estate gal who watched in amazement as cars "drove around him!" Double miracle because Higgins, you see, is blind!
Unable to keep him, because she all ready had a houseful of pets and hubby said NO, this Good Samaritan searched the internet for a solution and found an all-breed rescue in TN willing to post him to rescues on the I-net. Guess Who Hines saw the post and responded. Relocating to the South, I arranged to meet with the Good Sam in Arkansas, where she brought Higgins to me. It was love at first meeting.
Higgins doesn't have a clue that he is in any way impaired. He has the heart of a giant and a spirit that soars with the eagles! He is fun, funny, cute, affectionate and ever so brave! If only humans had the spirit of these blessed creatures this world would be a better place!
Higgins came forever home with Sharon Hines and The Mop Squad in June 2002!
Tye - adopted by Sharon Hines
TYE - Or The Tye Man, as I refer to him, is a Senior Lhasa Apso, who was surrendered to an animal shelter in Arkansas, because his family "was moving!" Prior to joining his now forever family with Sharon Hines and The Mop Squad, Tye had had five previous homes with as many "names." Tye is a beautiful guy, who is totally independent, loyal, loving and makes his Mom's heart smile. Learning of his plight, I decided that Tye had "had enough," being bounced from home to home and asked the shelter if I could have him. Because I am with rescue, Tye was HOME for $10.00! Tye's value to me and the mop squad ... priceless!
Emma - Adopted by Sharon Hines
EMMA - Emma, Emma, Emma! Is a 7-month-old mix of unknown origin, who has all the traits and markings of a Maltese/Cocker Spaniel! Within days of arriving in Paragould, ARK., I was contacted by a gal who "found a puppy in a ditch, covered with mats and burs and sticks and fleas" in 93 degree weather in Arkansas! Another Good Sam, she took her home and bathed and clipped her and kept her over night. The following day she brought this small bundle of white fluff and curls to me! OMG! Emma was forever home! Upon examination I discovered that Emma had a severe puncture wound, infected and swollen, on her hip. Who knows who threw her in that ditch and what perils she experienced prior to being rescued? With proper vetting, the infection healed and I had her spayed. No sooner over that than it was discovered that EMMA HAD PARVO, a killer disease for puppies! Crestfallen, I rushed her to a vet 30 miles away, who was grim and did his best. The rest was up to Emma and God as we understand Him. With a lot of love and tears and prayers, Emma survived. Today she is the bain of my existence with her puppy antics! If there is an adventure to be discovered, Emma finds it ... like making snow in the living room with sofa cushions and searching out frogs in the yard! But Emma is LOVE and joy and all good things ... and Emma is forever home as the sixth member of the Hines Mop Squad!
